Chaplin

A new play written and performed by Pip Utton

3rd July, The Public Hall

Pip Utton is one of the country's leading solo performers with a well-established international reputation and the recipient of many prizes. Chaplin created the Tramp, one of the most famous cinema images of all time which made him one of the best known and best paid film actors of a generation. His success catapulted him from a childhood in the slums of 19th century London to the riches and celebrity of Hollywood. His penchant for young ladies and his dalliance with Communism sullied his public reputation, which hid a darker side of his personality.

In this play, Pip Utton steps in and out of the screen, to reveal the complexities of a cinema legend.
